Officer Justin Quagliani, 38, of Greenwich, died on Tuesday, Dec. 17, while at home, Greenwich Police said.
Quagliani had been with the department since 2015. Prior to becoming a police officer, he served 10 years as a military police sergeant with the U.S. Army Reserves. He also served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and received numerous awards and certifications during his tenure.
During his time with the Greenwich Police, Quagliani received numerous letters from citizens commending him for outstanding performance and service to the community. In 2019 he received a commendation for saving the life of a resident by performing CPR.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 22 at Knapp's Funeral, 267 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 23 at ST. Michael's Church in Greenwich.
"We join all members of the department in extending our sincere sympathy to the Quagliani family," the department said.
